There aren’t a ton of decisions to make during Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, but one of the first you’ll come across is at a mysterious glowing red door where you’re presented with a riddle. There are a few of these doors throughout the game, and they provide players with two different options. Once selected, you won’t be able to choose the alternative unless you start another playthrough.
These doors can reward players with useful gear, teleport to a new location, or provide valuable resources, depending on your choice. While you might be able to master the challenges of difficult bosses and intricate levels without any external references, making the right call about the doors can be harder, and choosing between Winged Ascension or Feathered Transcendence isn’t very straightforward.

Where To Find The Winged Ascension Doorway
Find The First Glowing Door In Worship’s Rise
The first “riddle door” you’ll find in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is found near the end of the starting region, Worship’s Rise. You’ll want to head down the main path from the Corpse Pits shrine and eventually enter the Tang Emperor Palace. As you progress through this area, there’s a glowing red door that will pretty much be unmissable.
The door is located just before you fight the Tang Palace Maid and then take on Commander Honglan. If you happen to walk past it, you should be able to fast travel back to the Corpse Pits and make your way back to the door, as it will remain glowing until you interact with it and make a decision or progress past a point of no return.
What Happens If You Choose Winged Ascension
Receive A Useful Benediction Stone

When you find the glowing red door in Widow’s Rest, you’ll have the option to choose either the Winged Ascension or the Feathered Transcendence, both of which have unique results. The trick with these doors is that there is technically a “correct” answer to each riddle that rewards you with a specific piece of loot. That said, you still receive a unique result if you choose the “incorrect” option.
In the case of the Feathered Transcendence vs. Winged Ascension door, choosing Winged Ascension will open the door to a piece of loot on the ground. This is the Sheng – Lasting Alacrity Benediction Stone, which extends the effects from Alacrity, a status that prevents damage when casting spells, and triggers automatically depending on the spell being used.
What Happens If You Choose Feathered Transcendence
Teleport To The Lotus Pond & Meet With The Boatman

Alternatively, should you decide to pick the Feathered Transcendence option, you’ll be teleported automatically to a room inside the same region called the Lotus Pond. Inside, there’s a red-eyed demon that can be defeated to reward you with a Faint Red Feather and 1 Red Mercury Essence. You’ll also be able to interact with the Boatman, a recurring NPC in the game that is encountered when choosing the “incorrect” options on these similar doors.
Being teleported to the Lotus Room will reset you, similar to resting at a shrine, and if/when you die, you’ll be taken back to this location until you Enter the Dream at another shrine.
Speaking with the Boatman rewards players with a Crystalized Red Mercury, and there is a Full-Grown Red Mercury laying nearby. Choosing Feathered Transcendance is the only way to encounter the glowing-eyed demon enemy or interact with the Boatman at the Lotus Pond.
You Should Choose The Winged Ascension
Choose All Correct Or Incorrect Answers On Your First Playthrough
Ultimately, the choice between the Winged Ascension or Feathered Transcendence is up to the player, and there is a unique story element to choosing the “incorrect” option at these doors throughout your playthrough (i.e. unique interactions with the Boatman). Whether you choose Winged Ascension or Feathered Transcendence, I’d recommend doing either all the “correct” answers or all the “incorrect” answers during a single playthrough to see both end results.
Each “correct” answer will automatically present you with a piece of gear you can loot off the ground. While this door only gives you an underwhelming Benediction stone, others will give you unique armor sets and other valuable items. For example, the only way to get the Bridal Armor set is by choosing the “correct” option in the second mystery door when presented with the course of destiny versus the threads of fate.
Conversely, choosing the “incorrect” answers for these doors will put you in an exchange with the Boatman, and in the event of the final door, can even lead to a secret boss, the Demon of Obsession (though this requires multiple steps and is highly missable). While PC users might be able to manage a backup save file to see both decisions for themselves, anyone on console will be required to play through NG+ to get the alternative option for these doors.
Your best bet is to choose either all correct or all incorrect answers in a given playthrough for these doors so that you can experience both options for yourself.
Ultimately, your best bet is to choose either all correct or all incorrect answers in a given playthrough for these doors so that you can experience both options for yourself. This strategy is the most straightforward in terms of keeping track of your decisions across playthroughs. No matter what, you’ll have to play through an entire NG+ run in order to fully experience each riddle door choice in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers.
